Discovered in a small batik workshop in Yogyakarta, this design was originally found as a working table cloth layered with hand-drawn tropical foliage. Clara was drawn to its quiet balance — organic yet structured. She refined the composition and collaborated with her manufacturing partner in Guangzhou to reinterpret it in 30%Silk and 70% Cotton, allowing the pattern to carry warmth and depth. The result bridges Indonesian botanical heritage with understated modern wear.

Inspired by antique batik textiles seen during a stay in Yogyakarta, this design reinterprets layered tropical foliage through a structured European lens. Clara refined the composition and introduced architectural balance. The design features an all-over composition of elongated tropical leaves layered densely across the surface. The foliage overlaps in rhythmic movement, creating a sense of depth without a central focal point. Each leaf is outlined in dark contour lines, giving the pattern a hand-drawn character and subtle graphic structure.

The color palette balances deep indigo and muted teal with sage green, warm ochre, soft ivory, and restrained crimson accents. The tones are saturated yet earthy, preventing the composition from feeling overly bright or ornamental. The interplay of cool blues and greens against warmer reds and yellows creates controlled contrast within an otherwise harmonious scheme.

A structured border frames the pattern, anchoring the organic movement of the leaves and giving the piece architectural discipline. The overall impression is lush but contained — abundant foliage held within deliberate structure.

Clara did not choose this design because it was loud. She chose it because it is breatheable.

During her time in Indonesia, she noticed how foliage was not treated as decoration, but as presence — layered, abundant, and quietly dominant. The leaves in this pattern move with intention. What appealed to Clara most was the discipline within abundance. The composition feels lush, yet it is framed and controlled. The darker outlines anchor the movement. The border contains it. It is expressive without becoming excessive — something she values deeply in design.

She saw in it a reflection of how she believes luxury should feel: warm, textured, cultivated over time, never attention-seeking. When translated into cotton and silk, the depth of color becomes grounded and architectural, allowing the tropical energy to settle into something composed and wearable.

Clara chose this piece not to replicate Indonesia, but to reinterpret its quiet strength — turning organic movement into something structured, refined, and enduring.
